New paintings from the Edwards mansion

I recently started a new series.  I haven't used live models for years and I wanted to get back into it.  I hired a model relatively 'new to the game' and she posed all around the Edwards mansion, which is a historical site here in Springfield.  The intent of the series is to juxtapose a contemporary young woman with an antiquated setting; a place she couldn't belong.

This painting is oil on linen, 24 x 30 inches.  Since I have one model to work with, I try to use her surroundings to act as proxy characters in a loose narrative (so loose I don't know what the narrative is).  I was particularly interested in the implications of the statue of Nike of Samothrace over her left shoulder.  There's lots of possibilities for content there: victory without a head. its partial obscurity, etc.  I love the tension of its placement.
